A new tool launched by Instagram which is designed to help better protect our community from unwanted photos and videos in DMs. Anyone looking to send DM requests to people they don't follow will face two new restrictions:
- Invitation model: You can send only one message to someone who does not follow you. The message will be used as an invitation to continue chatting and only after confirmation will it be possible to send further messages.
- Text only: This one invitation message is limited to text only. Photos, videos or voice comments will only be allowed after the chat has been approved.
